Opinion Piece: Fat Shaming in WWE's History: A Weighty Issue

This one hits hard.

Really Hard.

I have Suffered With Weight and Confidence Issues and Depression for most of my life. It's not  the Main Reason I make posts and not videos, but I would be lying if I said it's not a factor.

You've read the Title of this Post and you saw Raw on Monday Night/ Tuesday Morning. But if you didn't, they repackaged Piper Niven with a New Name.

They are now calling This Plus Sized Woman.....

I can just see Vince McMahon, yukking it up with the Newly Reinstated Executive Reliever In Charge of Having Relationships with Female Talent, Johnny Ace. Because let's be honest, if Piper was not under Contract, she wouldn't be hired by a man who has feed his Protein Shake to every bikini model and cheerleader who came to Wwe for a cup of coffee.

"Well, She's Dewdrop, because she has a round bottom, PAL!" Do not try and tell me that's not the reason for the name. No amount of Justification on why they turned one of NXTUK top talent into a bodyguard stooge for #StillBotchEverything.

Now this is not another Retribution type issue. When the inevitable face turn happens it'll be worth watching. But even after Pounding Eva Marie's Bones to Powder, WHAT THEN? Bring her Back to Britain as if it didn't happen? Put her on NXT as Piper Niven, again, as if it didn't happen? Release her outright? Because that's the Endgame right now, Face Turn, a short match with an idiot, and a midcard run that will fizzle out quickly!

But this is not a new thing. In fact Wwe has had Gimmicks on Body issues and never outright said that bodyshaming is bad, just the blanket statement that All Bullying is Bad, M'Kay? 

Including the two times they made up shit for storyline elements in women's title matches!

In the Early days, the Then WWWF, Acquired the services of Henry J Cobb, the Guinness World Record holder of the Heaviest man at the time. As Happy Humfrey, Cobb was the foil to the equally massive Haystacks Calhoun. On the Road in that era of the late 50s/ early 60s. Restaurants could and did refuse service to people that size. On top of all the stares and ridicule from the public. Cobb himself was once trapped in a phone booth and it took 8 police officers to free him.

Even the Iconic Andre the Giant, a man who had less Control over his weight due to Giantism. If you ever watched HBO'S documentary of him. There is a piece on the Twilight years of Andre's Career. During and After Breaking his Ankle, It was downhill. The Frustration and Alcoholism followed. Former WWE Ref Tim White, who was also  Andre's Handler shared a sad memory of Andre telling Tim that he once wished to look like Him for on day, just to see what it was like to be normal!

In the 80's Adrian Adonis suffered with weight and couldn't shake it off and was Punished, being Repackaged as Adorable Adrian Adonis a Pink clad Sissy who arranged flowers. He took it in stride, but the new gimmick was a punishment. Not as bad as what they did to Playboy Buddy Rose. ...And the fact it was placed there was what drove me to write this piece!

Fast Forward to the Tailend of the Attitude Era and Molly Holly turned Heel by Becoming Virginal and Wrestling in street clothes and using a flipping Version of Ray Steven's Bombs Away as a finish. Covering up in a time where you featured all the Divas in a dance competition or Bikini contest, was seen as a dick move. Despite being Attacked with a belt shot by heel Champion Trish Stratus, despite being heavier Than Molly who was barely 5ft, Trish mocked Molly for her new finisher that she was knocked out with, Concluding the Big And Strong Fitness Model was only Knocked Out...Because Molly has A FAT ASS! And the crowd ate it up! Chanting Fat Ass and holding Giant Signs that read "Molly's Ass: Actual Size!".There was even a time Molly was Pantsed revealing Sensible Underwear. or as King Pervert kept screaming "Granny Panties!"

And lets not Forget The 2nd time WWE made shit up about a supposed weight Issue that didn't exist. I Am referring of course to the Piggy James storyline. This time By the Original Tapeworm, Michelle McCool. In Increasingly insulting Vignettes, By Quite Frankly a women whose whole career hinged on being the New Wife to a World Famous Wrestler. Unlike the above, this happened in this age of social media and people were upset. and because of it, James would beat McTaker for the Title in less than a minute!

The sad things is that these are the stories that were booked and Made Public. giving that many wrestlers of a certain size have entered WWE'S doors, if more happened backstage, then they kept quiet. We know Vince is not a fan of Kevin Owen's look and Keith Lee's Gear was tweaked to cover his chest. Kassius Ohno was booked as a top heel but fizzled out, due to his ballooning weight. The Doudrop gimmick has barely started, but people are already upset. Which will only mean the storyline will rachet up in Cruelty quickly. Good News it means that this story line will end quicker. Bad news WWE will not look good after this!

WWE HELL IN A CELL 2021-FINALLY GETTING BEYOND THUNDERDOME!

 Well this show was a 3 star B-show! They did good things good, but the Stupid Shit could not be ignored! 

I suppose you want more Detail, but next month wwe is back on the road putting shows on for real people, and if they keep doing shit like this, Boy oh boy, will they express their Displeasure!

Greetings From Ireland, It's Eamonn aka Enlightened doing what may be the last show i do this year! I posted why in the previous post. But long story short, I'm leaving the Country for a few Days for Family Reasons. I will not say what it is, but Suit and Gift Shopping will be involved! And Because all my posts come out of pocket, i will not have the coin for This trip and PPVS.

So let's start.

I found it weird that of the 2 women's title Matches, that this match would be in the Cell. I would learn WHY! later but it did confuse me, This Smackdown women's Match was Pretty Good, containing good Action, A call back to Bayley's attempt to make a double Kendo Stick. Bayley working a body part in the steel cage, rather than brawling and smashing it against the steel, made me happy. But it was Bianca as the Plucky Babyface that retained the title!

A Jump-Start is how the next match, Cesaro and Rollins started. This was a rematch from The Sleeper hit of this year's Mania, one of two matches that replaced the Hell in a cell title match we got for free! And it didn't disappoint, Except for the Finish, The Fucking Roll-up!

Bliss won in a contender for worse match of the year, Though Tony Cookie's Your Ring A Splode is a tough act to follow!

Next Sami Zayn vs Kevin Owen....And i couldn't care less, they are beginning to poison the well by giving us this match over and over again. Was it Better than Alexa using Mind control on a Blob and a Wine Clown? Yes! But do you know what's better than Alexa  Using Mind Control On a Blob and a Wine Clown?

Anyway Sami Zayn Won, And Bragged it to Michael Cole, saying "The Voice in his Head" (IE VINCE!) Must have Hated that! We are now Close to working ourselves into a shoot and Sami must be careful!

Another thing that the real crowd will shutdown. will be this double turn that they tries to pull On Rhea and Charlotte's match. We know why it wasn't in the Cell. It had to end in DQ! Rhea Beaned Charlotte in the head with the banner thing on the announce table and the Disqualification called! Pathetic!

And Finally Bobby Lashley Retained in a Brawl Inside the Cell. With a little help from MVP! MVP got his though, A dusty Finish allowed him to get into the cell interfere, only of the Refs to lock the cell again, trapping MVP with a Pissed Off Drew McIntyre. Getting a Measure of Revenge meant Drew's head was out of the game long enough for the Bobby to Hit another Fucking Rollup!

WELL THAT'S IT FOR WWE THIS YEAR....BUT I'M NOT "DONE" DONE!

 Yeah, I have being Busy Offline and continue to do so. and today i will tell you how it will affect my blogs from now on.

CUTTING MY LOSSES

Without going into my Personal Life (Because You Don't want to Know about It!) A family event is happening September, that will require me to leave the country for a week. That Means Summerslam is off the table. As you can Imagine, Leaving the country means a lot of preparations and money will go it. 2 Month's worth starting in July! And to be honest, every show til The Rumble next year will be off too! All My Ppvs come out of my own pocket, so being close to to Christmas means i will probably not be covering any ppvs til i feel i am ready to so.

But Yes to Confirm. Hell in a Cell is my final show....If Sky Ireland could get off their asses!

There is no Change to Boggerboxoffice. Each post is drafted by hand and then edited 2 pages a day. 2to3 pages in advance of the first week of the month, and launched the 1st working day of each month. This is manageable for me, given the sudden change that will happen in August preparing for this September. As opposed to me launching a post from Scratch the morning after the Pay-per-View!

That's my Lot! and i want to thank you all for your support.  I apologize for the slip in content, But i promise you things will be better, sooner or later!
